Serving the Nation for over 100 years, Tata Power Pledges 'Invisible Goodness' for the future generation
Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, today culminated the Company's centennial celebrations today with the commitment to light up the lives of future generations. The Company, having successfully served the nation for over 100 years, achieved yet another milestone: the 450 MW of hydro power has been successfully commissioned in the centenary year, reinforcing the company's focus on clean power. Tata Power will now aspire to add upto 40% generation capacity through non-fossil options to its incremental portfolio.
The gala evening was honoured by the presence of Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Shri Chandrashekar Bawankule, Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Maharashtra; Mrs. Snehal Ambekar, Mayor of Mumbai along with Mr. Cyrus Mistry, Chairman – Tata Group. A special message by Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Power, was also played during the evening.
The evening's celebrations, which began with an invocation dance performance by differently abled children, included the introduction of a new corporate anthem incorporating the essence of the company - sustainability and value creation. Encapsulating 100 years of Tata Power's contribution to the nation, a book by renowned author Mr. Anil Dharker was also released. The evening also saw unveiling of a coffee table book on Tata Power.
In his special message to Tata Power, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said, "I would like to congratulate Tata Power on completing 100 successful years of its journey. I think this is the time to salute the legendary Shri Jamshedji Tata who lit the lives of millions, and has been doing the same for more than hundred years now by providing clean, affordable and abundant power to all. We are now moving towards clean power for all. When we talk of 'Make in India' at a time when the entire world economy is looking at India as a new investment destination, the most important thing is power. I am sure Tata Power, with their core values and business principles, can accomplish this dream of 'Make in India' through all its ventures and endeavors. The Tatas have always been ahead of time".
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Cyrus Mistry, Chairman, Tata Group, commented, "It is a matter of great pride to all of us that Tata Power has completed 100 years of operations. Commenting on the special occasion, Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power, underscored the company's commitment to India. Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has always undertaken various initiatives with an aim to improve the quality of life, and ensure holistic development of its surrounding communities. The strategic approach ensured focus on sustainable long term programs across all locations while also looking into location specific needs as well. At present, the CSR outreach covers half a million people through various initiatives in education, health, livelihood, social capital, and nurturing sustainability. The total CSR spend of the Company in FY15 stood at Rs. 31.1 crore as against the required 2 per cent (Rs. 29.8 crore) as per the Companies Act. In addition to the above, the CSR spend of subsidiaries and joint ventures of the Company was Rs. 18.2 crore, as against the required Rs. 17.2 crore as per the Act.
Responding to the need of the hour, Tata Power distributed more than 3500 relief kits as part of the flood relief efforts in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), and 2000 solar lamps and helped restore power network to those impacted by Cyclone Hud-Hud in Vishakhapatnam district in -. Various educational initiatives undertaken by the company had a positive impact on more than 1 lakh students across 350 schools. The company also extended Vocational Training and Employability programme to 1000 youth from over 96 villages.

In FY 15, Tata Power launched its flagship initiative, the Model Village program which aims at transforming 53 villages on development with a sustainable approach to work closely with stakeholders at large. These villages would be taken up in phased manner spreading over a decade through a participatory approach based on key priorities of community.
As a part of the 'Invisible Goodness' initiative for the centenary year, Tata Power has launched various new initiatives including empowering individuals to become sustainable through the 'Be Green' initiative. In line with nation's vision of Skill Development, Tata Power has set up Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) wherein the company plans to train 2 lakh skilled workers over the next decade. Under the 'Be Green' initiative, the company aims to motivate consumers to opt for e-bills to donate the collected savings for a noble cause.
The company has also launched 'Act for Mahseer' - the largest and the most comprehensive campaign on Mahseer conservation, reaffirming the company's commitment to the cause of saving the endangered species. Multiple similar initiatives are being worked upon and positive impact is anticipated from all.

Brings Unique Offerings to City of Mumbai in its Centenary Year:
Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, today announced the commencement of its Centenary year celebrations in Mumbai. Buoyed by the vision of its founder, Late Shri Jamsetji N Tata, that clean, cheap and abundant power is one of the basic ingredients for the economic progress of a city, a state or a country, Tata Power began its operations in 1915 by commissioning India's first large hydroelectric project in Khopoli, Maharashtra. Tata Power accomplishes 100 years of operation on 9th February 2015.
The commemoration of Centenary year celebrations were kicked off with the unveiling of logo and theme depicting the Company's 100-year service of 'Invisible Goodness' to the nation by Chairman of Tata Power and Tata group Mr Cyrus Mistry in an event at Khopoli on 9th Feb. The senior leadership team unveiled the same in Mumbai thereafter. The Company also took this opportunity to thank million of its stakeholders - customers, investors, shareholders, employees and associate-partners who were the invisible force behind its 100 years of Institution building. Honouring the contribution of these various stakeholders, Tata Power also announced several special initiatives including salient dedications in line with its nation building spirit.
The Theme 'Invisible Goodness' logo depicts a pair of hands cradling the globe conveying the universal effect of Tata Power's product, electricity and care. The hands are the invisible 'force of good' that no one sees and they represent the power of electricity which is a major factor in the progress of the world. This is made apparent by the lightning bolts surrounding the globe and going through it.
